Mini bright and colourful abstract original painting on easel - Affordable wedding present or new family art gift - Free shipping
This multi-coloured abstract painting of a Georgian door is part of a series I was inspired to paint after seeing a tweet! (You can see the tweet in the photos). Each painting is a snapshot of one of the familes who lived behind the door like a time capsule. I can also paint personalised versions as an affordable wedding present or new family art gift. This painting is part of a series I was inspired to paint after seeing a tweet by a painting and decorating company! (You can see the tweet in the photos). After seeing these tweets, I started thinking about all the Georgian doors in Dublin and the thousands of lives that have passed through the doors over so many years.
I was thinking about their lives and loves, joy and heartbreak, challenges and achievements. I wondered whether people chose their favourite colours when they painted these doors, whether the chosen colour was from some leftover paint, and whether there were ever any disagreements about what colours to use between husbands and wives!
As a result I started looking up streets of Dublin on Google Streetview to find doors I liked. Then I looked up the addresses in the Irish 1901 and 1911 census to get a snapshot of one family who had lived behind each of these doors and created these cheerful and colourful abstract paintings.
I’ve called this series “Layers of Lives”.
I can also paint personalised versions of this art with details of your own family and life. They would make a great anniversary present, Christmas gift or housewarming gift. Please send me a message for more details.
This painting is of the door of a house that was the home to a young family. The husband and wife, William and Emily had two young children. William worked as a hotel porter – there’s no way the family would be able to afford this house on a hotel porters wage these days! I wrote little details about this family in paint on this painting in different spots, almost like graffiti or the little time capsule notes that people sometimes leave in houses they are living in.
I can also paint personalised versions of this art with details of your own family and life. Please send me a message for more details.
This modern abstract painting is on a stretched canvas and was painted using a palette knife and acrylic paint. It is not a print. The painting is varnished and the easel is included in the price.
This unique, contemporary abstract painting with such a large variety of colors would suit the color scheme in most rooms as there are bound to be colours in the painting that will complement and match the colors in any room! It would be a wonderful housewarming present or a new family art gift for art lovers!

I’m a self-taught artist who has been painting for many years. I love simple shapes and subjects, and generally use bright and bold colours. Almost all of my pieces are painted using palette knives.
